Stuns’ls is a small shanty group, who mainly want to have fun and keep alive the heritage of sea shanties

Stuns’ls Group Shanty – founded by the Mevagissey, Charlestown and Truro Cornish Pilot Gig rowing clubs and named after one of our first songs “Old Maui”. Stuns’ls is a sailor’s slang for the studding sail, an extra sail that can be extended on the frame of a sailing ship in light wind.

We are definitely a carefree bunch that doesn’t take life too seriously, with a desire for harmony, and always want to find the perfect grade. In the last two years, we were allowed to sing for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, were at Cornwall by Rick Stein from the BBC in 2021 and are the voices of the G7 visit Cornwall campaign.

For us, there is nothing better than sharing the joy of Shanties and Cornish folk music, each song tells a story that has been passed on over the years, and it is our job to make it audible while at the same time we want to put a smile on every face.
