Overview
Two men, two women, singing with heart and soul, in infectious harmony. And drinking buckets of tea.
“The return of distinctive harmony singing.: — The Guardian
The Teacups debut album, ‘One For The Pot’ explores traditional and contemporary songs from all over the British Isles and beyond with a sensitive and lyrical approach to arrangement. The opening track ‘As I Roved Out’ sets the bar for the quality and skill of The Teacups’ arranging and the subtle nuances continue through the album. Old favourites like ‘Lincolnshire Poacher’ weave seamlessly with the more contemporary in ‘Ripples’, whilst tracks like ‘Country Life’ provide excellent sing-along choruses. Their second album, ‘Of Labour & Love’ contains new and original compositions as well as murder ballads, exotic shanties and traditional songs of love and loss, and has been critically acclaimed.
Alex Cumming moved to Boston, Massachusetts, which put a pause on the group performing as a quartet. Locksley, Calver and Finn continue to perform as a trio from time-t0-time. Calvert and Finn perform as a duo.
