Overview

You have to go back to the end of 2006 to find the origins of this group of friends — all passionate about music and sea shanties, with some already having honed their talents in local bands.

It was their shared love of song that brought them together again, inspiring them to take matters into their own hands and form their own group.

On January 1st, 2007, Terre & Mer de Saint-Malo was born, with Georges Goron as its founding president.

After many long and dedicated rehearsals, the group developed its repertoire, harmonized their voices, fine-tuned their instruments, and did it all in great spirits. Humour has always been at the heart of their work — each member even has a nickname to match!

Their repertoire ranges from sea shanties and maritime ballads to songs of the land — laments and traditional tunes from generations past — all performed with a lively sense of humour and good cheer. Their performances have showcased their talents at numerous regional festivals (Cancale, Saint-Malo, Rennes, and beyond), always delighting audiences wherever they go.

The group is a proud member of A.D.H.O., an association led by Professor Lamy of the Rennes-Ponchaillou Hospital, which supports the fight against cancer. They perform free of charge in aid of this cause. Every year, they also take part in the Virades de l’Espoir in Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes, helping raise funds and awareness in the fight against cystic fibrosis.
