The Bathtub Shantymen

They have no home port. And for good reason, Virton is far from the sea.  But they have the audacity of the sailor when they row in their bathtub.  They also have the spirit of the open sea when they are in the harbor, from foggy decks to smoky pubs.

Beer in each pore, a whisky in each eye, they remap all these paths that lead to rum.  Mixing accents and revisiting the traditional ones, they sing about work at sea, the girls who get off on it, the sailor on the watch, the tavern captain, the Breton on a spree or the Paddy in green and against all.

Ils n’ont aucun port d’attache. Et pour cause, Virton, c’est loin de la mer.  Mais ils ont l’audace du marin quand ils rament dans leur baignoire.  Ils ont aussi l’esprit du grand large quand ils sont en rade, de ponts embrumés en pubs enfumés.

Une bière dans chaque pore, un whisky dans chaque œil, ils refont la cartographie de tous ces chemins qui mènent au rhum.
Mélangeant les accents et revisitant les traditionnels, ils chantent le travail en mer, les filles qui s’en calent, le matelot en bordée, le capitaine taverne, le Breton en goguette ou le Paddy en vert et contre tous.
