Overview
The Vent Arrière, (“Following Wind” in English) maritime music group was launched in October 2003, its home port is the Kerlédé neighbourhood of Saint-Nazaire.
Its crew consists of 38 sailors and sailors including a guitarist + banjo, two flautists, two harmonica players, a drummer, a Bodhran player, an accordionist and a clarinettist.
“Our group hosts maritime festivals (Le Croisic, Pornichet, Noirmoutier), local festivals (Sainte Reine de Bretagne, Bouée) The Anne de Bretagne Festival (Pornic, La Turballe) We sang at Elven, Ploërmel, at the Faouet in Morbihan, as well as at the Paimpol Festival.
Our repertoire is very varied, more than 120 songs.
We perform traditional maritime songs, song by well-known and recognised authors: Michel Tonnerre, Christian Le Goff of the group Vent de Noroise, Freddy Le Goff of the group Retour, François Esmelin of the Boucaniers de Saint Malo….. Traditional English, Quebecois, Irish, Russian songs….. Original songs, of our composition, relating to the historical past of Saint-Nazaire. (Carriot, The Lancaster or the Battleship Jean Bart)
