Overview
The Wandering Elderberries are guys who love singing acapella folk songs and shanties, and pretty much anything with a bit of harmony!
As members of Cornish male voice choirs, it has been traditional for us to follow a formal concert with something more relaxed, referred to as ‘afterglow’, in a nearby hostelry. As keen walkers, a few of us would also meet up for walking holidays or days out on the moors or coast paths, and inevitably conclude the day with some liquid refreshment and an enjoyable session of singing. This is how we came to call ourselves ‘Wandering Elderberries’, men of a certain age, ripe fruit, prone to rambling, the latter having at least two meanings in English language, and of course a cheeky nod to the ‘Traveling Wilbury’s’ (though no comparison sought or intended). Since 2022 , we have met up on a more regular basis to practice and perform locally. Whilst we are helping to keep an old Cornish tradition alive, we primarily sing for fun, but we hope others are entertained by it and also enjoy what we do.
