Overview
Ye Banished Privateers is a pirate-themed, folk-rock band from Umeå, Sweden. Their songs are inspired by traditional Irish and Scandinavian folk music and their lyrics are mostly based on events that happened in the 17th and 18th century. The group presents a Hollywood-inspired pirate motif to their stage presence. The band can have as many as 30 members.
Curated History
While not at all historically accurate, this group is wildly popular at contemporary music venues across Europe, such as Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze. In popularity, they can be compared to groups like Ramstein, In Extremo, or Heilung.
