Bill Brown (Bosun)
One of the original Wailers. Bill was never faulted for his enthusiasm whether singing or drinking!
Bill has been in The Wellington Wailers since the beginning. He spent his earlier years in Crawley, playing Rugby for the local side. His enthusiasm, on the pitch, was more than matched by his enthusiasm in the clubhouse. Bill travelled the world practicing his trade as an Engineering draftsman. Bill no doubt picked up many a ‘yarn’ during his world travels. Some of which he includes in the songs he now sings.
It was possibly from the Rugby social scene that Bill first learnt many of his songs. Sadly, most of the songs Bill bought with him, could not be sung out by the Wailers without causing offence. Bill now (mostly) sing the less offensive shanties?
