Louise Sandall née Cooper (1952-2009)
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of our members, and dear friend, Louise Sandall. She suffered a massive haemorrhage, and despite fighting bravely under superb care at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, died 12 days later, on Wednesday 21st October 2009.
Louise will be missed terribly by all of us, and most especially by her husband, and fellow Shout member, Cas Sandall. Louise will be remembered for many qualities; her enthusiasm, her beautiful voice and shy but easy musicianship, her creativity and her sense of humour. Just receiving an email from Louise was always a bright spot in the day; just a few short lines in one of her missives conveyed so much of Louise. Her humorous, clever and eloquent wordsmanship and her infectious enthusiasm shone through like beacons in all she did and we all consider ourselves privileged to have been a part of her life.
In addition to being a talented musician, Louise was known internationally as an author of fantasy novels, publishing over 80 books. She was also a guest lecturer in Professional Writing at University College Falmouth and worked in Europe with the British Council English Language Programme. As well as raising money for RNLI through her singing with Falmouth Shout, she was also treasurer for the St Agnes Lifeboat.
