3 Feb 2025: Rob Sowerby was a member of Wareham Whalers for over ten years, providing bass harmonies as well as leading such songs as Roseanna. He died on 23 Nov 2024 after a 15-year battle with cancer. His funeral was held on 11 Dec 2024.
A concert will be held Friday, 7 Feb 2025 at 7:30 PM at Broadstone War Memorial Hall in honor of Sowerby and his contributions to our musical scene. Performers include Wareham Whalers, Paul Openshaw and the barbershop quartet, Mark Time. Entrance is free with a donation for the PLANETS Cancer Charity. Details and RSVP on Facebook.
When not performing with the Wareham Whalers, he was a fire brigade sub officer. A Royal Navy veteran, Rob celebrated his 80th birthday in July of 2024 and the 60th anniversary of his marriage with his wife, Val.
