Silver Darlings release Whaling Women album

Whaling Women by The Silver Darlings

Southend-on-Sea-based maritime music group, The Silver Darlings, released their second album, Whaling Women. It is a delightful collection of shanties and maritime songs, including songs written by Nicholas Smyth, John Tams and Cyril Tawney. There is also a new (to me) musical arrangement of C. Fox Smith’s Tow Rope Girls by Robert L. Webb.

The women’s voices are all crystal clear, and their harmonies are impressive. Their personalities really shine through in The Maid of Amsterdam, and their souls carry in Shallow Brown. This is a great addition to anyone’s maritime music library.

Whaling Women is available on Bandcamp and Spotify.

The group’s Maritime Music Directory International profile is here.
