This new album of 19 sea shanties and maritime songs from The HogEye Men is now available as a digital download on Bandcamp. The group presents strongly performed, acapella renditions of many shanty standards, such as Billy Riley, Haul on the Bowline, and Blow the Man Down. Two tracks were written and arranged by band member, Phil Weight; it is good to see new pieces being conceived and performed in contemporary times.
The HogEye Men are a London (UK) sea shanty group. Originally formed 18 years ago, the current crew is Mike Green, Matthew Fielding, Garry Walker, Phil Weight, Steve Jackson and Tom McNulty. Much respected on the shanty circuit and at maritime festivals, “The Hogs” specialize in authentic unaccompanied shanty singing, drawing on their wide singing experience and love of the maritime genre.
