The Fisheries Development Cooperative Society is partnering with the Barrouallie Community Committee to host The Bagga Fish Fest at the Central Square in Barrouallie on the first Friday of each month (with exceptions for holidays).

Vibert Pierre, President of the Barrouallie Fisheries Development Cooperative Society said one of the aims of hosting the event is to promote the consumption of sea food.  Mr. Pierre said persons will have an opportunity to savor a variety of fish dishes at the Fish Fest

The event celebrates the fishing community with food vendors, a bar and largely contemporary DJ-mixed music, with occasional appearances by maritime-themed musicians such as Pressgang Mutiny and The Barrouallie Whalers. [Some content from NBC Radio.]

[Trigger Warning:  the Barrouallie fishing community is still very much involved with hunting and slaughtering whales for consumption.  There are explicit videos on this festival’s Facebook page and it appears that whale bodies are in evidence at the festival itself.  While modern sensibilities in Western culture abhor this practice, it should be considered that this is a complex issue that requires advocacy outside of this web portal.]
