Overview
Lorient Océans Festival Maritime is an annual multi-disciplinary festival including, among other subjects, ‘Chants de Marins” (Shanty / Sea song ) groups, other musical events, meetings of sailing ships, boat visits, sea trips, cultural discoveries, conferences, exhibitions, and demonstrations.
For its third edition in 2024, which took place between the 27th and the 30th June, the “Lorient Océans” Maritime festival, was extended to cover all the municipalities around Lorient harbour in South West Brittany, France.
The main concert is held on the Naval Repair Area on Saturday evening, in the middle of the boats, and many free concerts are held during the 4 days of the festival. From rock sounds to electro beats, through rap, sailor songs, and wild brass bands, Lorient Océans celebrates all music!
All these concerts and musical entertainment are free, (except the Grand Concert on Saturday evening).
It is possible to discover the incredible Ocean “fleet” of Lorient: heritage boats, fishing, transport, trade, offshore racing… Traditional boats are open to visit. As a novelty, it is also possible to embark from the different ports of the harbour and even experience the Great Maritime Parade from the inside!
Lorient Océans radiates beyond the main village. The municipalities of Hennebont, Port-Louis, Locmiquélic, Gâvres and Larmor-Plage each offer entertainment during the 4 days. Transportation is available from port to port and visitors can enjoy visits, performances, workshops, demonstrations and concerts organised by the festival partners.
