Mariners Maritime Festival, Felixstowe

The second Mariners Maritime festival, held in the Mariners Freehouse in Trimley St. Mary, Suffolk was held on the 31st August 2024, hosted by local musician, Salty Groyne.

New tenants were seen to have taken over the pub in 2025 and no shanty festival would appear to have been held during the year. Unfortunately it is not clear whether one will return in the future. Note: There is however another Shanty Festival in the area, the Felixstowe Folk and Shanty Festival, which was held in June 2024 and 2025

Previous events:

On Saturday, 2 September, 2023 from 8:00 am until 11 am you can enjoy an afternoon of sea shanties & songs of the sea at the Mariners’ Freehouse in Trimley St. Mary, (Felixstowe), Suffolk. There will be five shanty crews from Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex in the beer garden.  We welcome Pot of Gold shanty crew from Norfolk, Rattlin’ Winches from Essex, The Smugglers of Alnesbourne from Nacton, Suffolk, The Rum Old Boys from Woodbridge, Suffolk & the hosts Salty Groyne from Felixstowe & Ipswich, Suffolk. Free event. All welcome.
