Overview
The Old Town School of Folk Music has a long and storied history in Chicago. There have been sea shanty classes held here since the ’80s, taught then by Clifford Long, more recently by Tom Kastle. It was also the base location in the final year of the Chicago Maritime Festival in 2016. Most recently it has become the home of the Chicago Shanties group, headed up by Kathy Whisler.
