Overview

The fifth Rowhedge Shanty Festival will be held 18 July 2026.

The fourth Rowhedge Shanty Festival was held on the 31st May 2025 from noon forward.  Admission to this festival was free and was sponsored by Colchester Brewery.  Performances were held at Three Crowns, Ye Old Albion, The Anchor, and St. Lawrences Church.

The event is organized by the Roughedge Carousers.

The third Rowhedge Sea Shanty Festival was held Saturday 11th May 2024 at Rowhedge by the River.  Performances were staged at these venues:  Lion Quay, The Anchor, The Three Crowns (a 14th Century pub now a house which gets turned back into a pub for the festival each year), The Olde Albion Pub.
“A great day out! Come sing along with me and be part o’ me crew!”

The 2nd Rowhedge sea shanty festival took place on 17th June 2023 from Midday until 6.00pm. 8 Shanty groups sang between The Albion, The Anchor and The Three Crowns pubs during the day. Then in the evening at The Rowhedge Social Club.

The organizers of this event, as of 12 Mar 2026, have not released a contact email address.  Also, they are not responding to queries via Facebook.  We were only able to provide the 2026 festival run date through one of the musical acts.
