William Main Doerflinger Memorial Sea Shanty Sessions

Sea Shanty Sessions are held on the third Sunday of each month from 2 to 4 PM.

Co-sponsored by the Folk Music Society of New York, Inc., Sea Shanty Sessions continue monthly at the museum. The sessions are dedicated to the memory of William Main Doerflinger (1909-2000), the noted music scholar who lived near Sailors’ Snug Harbor and visited often to collect shanties and traditional sailor’s songs from the residents. You can join in or just listen to the rollicking music that almost fills the building.
