Overview
Not only considered an incomparable Francophone ambassador, Le Vent du Nord is an engine of the Quebec progressive folk movement, as well as a flagship group in the movement of renaissance of Quebec’s traditional music.
Their music draws on the traditional Quebec repertoire while bringing a contemporary touch. It includes lead and response songs, reels, laments and original compositions often addressing historical or social themes related to Quebec.
Since its foundation in 2002, it has experienced a meteoric rise that never ceases to amaze! The group has performed more than 2,200 concerts in 4 continents including Carnegie Hall in New York, released 11 albums and won many prestigious awards including several Juno Awards (Victoires de la Musique in Canada) and a Grand Prix du disque Charles Cros.
Their qualities as interpreter, arranger and composition as well as a very strong stage presence marked by deep generosity are now recognised worldwide. The group celebrated its 20th anniversary performance with a staging by Dominic Champagne, who notably officiated for Cirque du Soleil, plus the release of a new album, “20 Printemps.”
