Overview
The group “Les Gabiers du Drellac’h” is a group of about twenty singers of sailors from Le Conquet in Brittany.
The Conquet is a fishing harbour, a shelter, on a coast swept by spray, storms.
Located in France at the Pointe du Finistère, the Pointe Saint Mathieu lighthouse is a landmark for all navigators passing from the English Channel through the Iroise Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.
The group’s repertoire is mainly made up of sailor songs from Brittany.
Created on the initiative of lovers of sailors’ songs and under the impetus of their President, Daniel Jacopin, the ensemble aims to discover unpublished songs, as well as adding original compositions by members of the group (Bernard Jézéquel, Jean-Jacques Miossec and Michel Bouty). The group also has its musicians: acoustic guitar, diatonic or chromatic harmonica, flute and percussion.
As at July 2024, the Group has produced four recordings, all of which are available through their website, along with a Contact sheet for correspondence.
