Overview
Ankie and Nanne have been playing together since 1980, initially in groups such as Irolt, Kat yn’t Seil, Liereliet and Kajto and later mainly as a duo. From that moment on, they are busy with the maritime song culture of the Netherlands – as researchers and as singers – and they are also considered leading musicians in this field.
Many traditional songs by sailors and fishermen – in Dutch and Friesian they have become reknown.
In addition, Nanne & Ankie have – over the years – made a number of music theater programs with maritime, historical themes. Singing in Dutch, Fries, Esperanto and sometimes in other languages, they released over 40 albums on LP and CD. They regularly make concert tours in countries such as France, England, Spain and Germany but also outside Europe: in recent years they made various tours in America and also in Australia and Asia.
Since the beginning in 1980, they have been involved in the organization and realization of Liereliet . Many of their ideas are also in the festival. At home and abroad, on large and small stages, in concert halls, churches and bars, on boats, on the street and at festivals or anywhere: Anywhere and anytime Ankie and Nanne bring a program with humor, cut to the situation.
Nanne & Ankie accompany their singing with instruments such as guitar, mandolin, concertina, flute and schalmei.
