Les Ouf du Dyjau

Les Ouf du Dyjau is a maritime singing group from the Côtes-d’Armor in Brittany, France.

We are a happy group of sailors stopping off to play at fêtes or maritime festivals in the region and elsewhere. We mix traditional instruments (guitar, accordion, violin) with more exotic instruments (ukulele, dulcitar, diddley bass) to bring more richness to our sound. We interpret the songs we perform with our hearts and good humour, a repertoire composed of sea songs, work songs, performed in an authentic and dynamic way and with a festive atmosphere.

Four friends, Marc, Yvon, Jézé and Nanard, trying their hand at sailor songs broadened their horizons in 2007 when they met Fred, a buff of maritime culture, owner of the Carantec, AWEN, who invited them, also accompanied by Francky and Jean-Jacques, to work on the boat while it was being restored.

This bonding experience, marked by friendly cooperation and good humour, gave birth to the Ouf du Dyjau – a crew that sings and a group that navigates – which, as its first destination, appeared at the Chants de Marin festival in Paimpol.

Toffee, Alanig and then Alex embarked in turn for future gatherings, more and more numerous, all crowned in August 2016 by participating in the Chant de Marin festival in Saint-Jean Port Joli in Quebec. 

Inevitably, over the years, the group was called upon to renew itself and currently the group is made up of;

Fred, the lead voice of the group, he plays the diatonic accordion and is also the author/composer of some of our songs.

Yves sings with all his heart and is not the last to set the mood on stage. He is the first to make you dance!

Christophe sings, plays ukulele with a pinch of dulcitar, bass stick and shakers of all kinds. He takes care of the communication, the recordings of the songs and the visuals of the group.

Guillaume plays the guitar in open (d) and adds a beautiful extra colour in addition to putting down his voice. His good ideas bring a plus to our pieces.

Anne plays the violin and brings all her fest-noz know-how to the group during its return to northern Brittany. Her ideas and musical knowledge bring a lot to the group.

François, second singer, adds his voice to all our songs while sometimes singing lead.

Toffee from Toulouse is a singer guitarist can sometimes experiment with homemade instruments in addition to also being an author/composer. He is also responsible for the mixing of our songs.
