Overview
‘Sea Feaver’ is a new folk/shanty-group, consisting of: Tonny Holsbergen, Hans Weehuizen and Jan Huitinga.
All three of them have already been active in various other groups: Hans among others in ‘Dutch Courage‘ and ‘Enkhuizen 3‘, Jan among others at ‘Drijfhout‘ and Tonny plays in various music groups with her extensive instrumentation, among others at ‘Resonanse’.
The instruments used by ‘Sea Fever’ during their performances include guitar, violin, concertina, nickleharp, perp, 1-row drawcuff and bones/valves. The combination of the various instruments and vocals guarantees a very own style of maritime songs and tunes.
Curated History
In various places this group's name appears as SeaFeaver and also Sea Feaver, SeaFaever, Sea Faever and Sea Fever. Based on the 2024 roster for the Harwich Shanty Festival we are using the former. In a 25 Dec 2025 Facebook posting to the group, Sea Shanties & Folk songs about the Sea, band leader Hans Weehuizen used SEAFEVER.
