Overview

Steam Town / Steamtown Shanty Crew – Sharing the joy of traditional shanties and ‘songs of the sea’, all sung a cappella true to the sea-faring tradition but with a fresh approach including mixed male & female voices and atmospheric harmonies

Come Sing Sea Shanties at Steam Town!

Join us every Monday from 8 to 9 pm at Steam Town Brew Co in Eastleigh for a relaxed, fun hour of sea shanty singing.

In the summer, we sing in the brewery bar. When it gets chilly, we move upstairs to the restaurant (if it’s free). Everyone’s welcome – all ages, all genders, all voices. No auditions, no experience needed – just come along and join in!

We sing a lively mix of traditional and not-so-traditional shanties. There’s no pressure to perform – we’re all about singing for the joy of it. That said, if you do fancy taking it further, there’s a sister group called The Steam Town Shanty Crew who perform around the area throughout the year.

The sessions are led by me, Nick Tann – I’m the founder and musical director, and I also teach singing professionally. I provide printed lyric sheets for all songs, and I can supply versions in dyslexia-friendly fonts if needed.

Sessions are just £5 (cash preferred, card accepted). It’s totally pay-as-you-go – no sign-up, no commitment, just good vibes and hearty singing.
