Overview
The name “Strand Hugg,” (raid on the coast, in Viking), recalls the Norman heritage of northern France and evokes the group’s attachment to the history of the coasts of northern France.
These five Normans, originally from la Manche, use their musical talents, derived from very diverse backgrounds, to interpret a repertoire composed of the sea songs and traditional music once heard on the coast in ports and on boats in their own way, along with some original compositions with a flavour of the sea. Born 25 years ago in an authentic sailor’s bar in old Granville, Strand Hugg stays the course and always enriches themselves with new inspirations with an emphasis on traditional instruments.
From their first festivals at Paimpol, Brest and Douarnenez, the band Strand Hugg, born in Granville in 1988, has performed along all the coasts of France, from Dunkirk to Cagnes sur mer, but also abroad (England, Germany, Switzerland and Italy).
