Overview
“Maritime Music Festival is a sea shanty music event held at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port annually each Easter.” — eFestivals.co.uk 2016
The Ellesmere Port Maritime Music Festival was associated with Shanty UK, whose URL was www.shanty.org.uk, but is, as of 29 Feb 2024, not in operation.
The event was launched in 2011 by event managers, Derek and Julia Batters, themselves maritime music performers under the name of “Trim Rig and a Doxy.”
In 2012 the event ran 6th, 7th, 8th April from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, and featured “Groups from The Netherlands, Belgium and the U.K.” There were additional evening concerts on Friday and Saturday nights.
The event continued in 2015, as promoted by the Bromborough Folk Club. Further information about this event may yet be forthcoming, however, it appears that this event is no longer in operation.
