Overview
The Liereliet 2025 festival will take place again on 24-26 October in the Friesland town of Workum. It will feature many activities and sing-along performances by many well-known maritime musical artists. Please review our website to see the schedule of events.
Since 1979 Stichting Liereliet has been the International Festival of Maritime Music in Workum. For decades this has been one of the most important venues on the maritime music scene. For over twenty years the famed duo of Johnny Collins and Jim Mageean headlined the festival, which, at its core, has been a sing-along destination for aficionados of the genre. It has been organized for many years by the musical couple Ankie van der Meer and Nanne Kalma, who themselves are signature performers of maritime and folk music.
In 2024 this festival celebrated 45 years of memorable performances in the charming city of Workum in the province of Friesland.
The festival runs concurrent with the famous Strontrace where traditional Netherlands’ sailing ships race the IJsselmeer with precious cargo! It is great fun to view, but better to participate by pulling the ships through the canals!
Stichting Liereliet is the International Festival of Maritime Music in Workum. Liereliet will take place again on 14, 15 and 16 October 2022. It promises to be another crazy weekend full of music and fun. More information about the artists and ticket sales will be announced soon.
