The International Folk & Seasongs Festival Bie Daip happens annually in Appingedam in the north of the Netherlands every last weekend of August.  This event is organized by Appingedam’s resident maritime music group, Armstrong’s Patent.  It is one of the signature, maritime music events held in Europe, often with over forty performance groups from across North America, Europe and Australasia.

In previous years the festival released a souvenir album on compact disc, which was sold at the event to raise money.  This was not done in 2024, possibly because there were a number of deaths of people in or close to the organizing group.

In 2024 there were at least four groups that canceled their appearances at the last minute, but other musical acts were able to step up to fill the bill.  Despite an electrical fire on the Kirkplein Stage and torrential rain on Sunday it was a successful festival.

9 Sep 2024:  The festival has been plagued by hacks to its Facebook pages and to its website for at least two years.
